Benefits of using laughing gas in children

  • Reduces pain and anxiety:

Improves compliance: Children who experience less anxiety and pain are more likely to cooperate with dental procedures, making treatment more effective.

  • Increases safety:

Laughing gas can help to reduce the risk of complications during dental procedures, such as nausea or vomiting.

How to use laughing gas in children

Laughing gas is administered to children through a small mask that is placed over the mouth and nose. Laughing gas is mixed with oxygen, and the amount of each is carefully controlled to provide an appropriate level of anesthesia.

The dentist starts by administering laughing gas slowly, then gradually increases the amount until the child reaches the desired level of anesthesia. It usually takes a few minutes for the child to feel the full effect of laughing gas.

Once the child reaches the desired level of anesthesia, the dentist can begin the procedure. The child can hear the dentist and follow any instructions he asks of him.

The effect of laughing gas lasts for about 30 minutes. After that, the dentist stops administering laughing gas, and the child gradually returns to normal.

Potential side effects of laughing gas in children

Laughing gas is generally safe in children, but some side effects may occur, such as:

Dizziness

Sleepiness

Headache
